Sustainable Development Goal 5 aims to empower all women and girls through global collaboration, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are more women in leadership roles, and fewer girls are forced into early marriages. However, despite improvements, full gender equality remains unreached.

Due to COVID-19, lockdowns are increasing the risk of violence against women in girls. In some countries, cases of domestic violence have increased by 30%. Women also bare additional unpaid household burdens during the pandemic.
