Violence Against Women
Violence against women (VAW) is the most serious, pervasive, and ignored violation of basic human rights around the world. President Jimmy Carter has been a tireless advocate for challenging violence against women – in his 2014 book A Call to Action - Women, Religion, Violence, and Power, he calls the deprivation and abuse of women “the most serious and unaddressed worldwide challenge.” How can we best challenge violence against women globally? How can we challenge false interpretations of scriptures that justify violence against women? How can we challenge a general growing acceptance of violence in society?
